PERFECT IN CHRIST

Today’s devotion is from Matthew 5:48

Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. 

Under the Law of Moses, being perfect as the Father is perfect was a total impossibility. How can a flawed human being be perfect? In fact not one command under the Law was attainable.

The Law was put in place by God to forever prove that mankind could not do what the Father wanted, or live up to His standards of perfection in their own strength or ability. The Law was put in place to make it obvious that mankind needed a Messiah to rescue them and establish a New Covenant. Jesus did exactly that… under His New Covenant of Grace we are PERFECT in Him. We are made perfect by His works and we are perfect in Him regardless of our own personal flaws.

The Bible says in Hebrews 10:12,14 that Jesus, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God… and that by one offering He has PERFECTED forever those who are being sanctified.

Jesus has perfected us… we have been made perfect in Him!

When the Father sees us, He sees us in Christ… He sees the perfection of Jesus. He sees the finished work of Jesus, and He sees us righteous and perfect… not as sinners but as His righteous children.

The Bible says in Ephesians 1:5-7 that the Father predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

When it comes to sin, anything less that perfection is not accepted. So, when it says that He made us accepted… it is saying that He made us PERFECT in Christ. 

It would please the Father if you would begin to look at yourself as PERFECT in Christ.

As you see yourself as the Father sees you, you will begin to walk in the light of who you are in Christ. Perfect in Christ in all aspects… Holy, whole, prosperous, healthy and blessed.

You will KNOW that you can do ALL things through Christ, you will KNOW that you can live according to His power that works within you, and you will know that nothing shall be impossible to you! Stop focusing on your flaws and begin to FOCUS on your perfection in Him!
