Today’s New Covenant nugget from Numbers 23:19-20
God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent.Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Behold, I have received a command to bless: He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.
While Israel was in the wilderness, their journey led them to camp in the plains of Moab. After hearing the news Balak the king of the Moabites became consumed with worry because he had seen the what Israel had done to the Amorites and he knew that the Moabites were possibly next in line to be destroyed at the hand of Israel.
Flooded with anxiety, King Balak sent messengers to Balaam at Pethor, asking him to curse Israel. Balaam had a reputation as a sorcerer… whoever he blessed would be blessed, and whoever he cursed would be cursed. As Balaam tried to curse Israel, instead, a blessing came out of his mouth!
Instead of Balaam cursing Israel, the Lord put this a word in his mouth for King Balak…
“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it. He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. The Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a King is among them.Thereis no sorcery against Jacob, nor any divination against Israel. It now must be said of Jacob and of Israel, ‘Oh, what God has done!” (Numbers 23:19-23)
Balaam could not reverse the blessing. When God blesses you, you are irreversibly blessed!
Do you know that when the Lord blesses you, that no one—no individual, no prophet, no sorcerer, and no devil—can reverse it? You are irreversibly blessed! You can never be cursed! No generational curse or any other curse can come upon you because God has already blessed you in Christ Jesus through the New Covenant established in His blood!
YOU ARE BLESSED IN CHRIST, AND YOU CANNOT BE CURSED!
