Today’s devotion is from Psalm 21:1-3

‘The king shall have joy in Your strength, O Lord; and in Your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! You have given him his heart’s desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. For You meet him with the blessings of goodness; You set a crown of pure gold upon his head.’

Let’s break Psalm 21:1-21 down…

‘The king shall have joy in Your strength, O Lord’… As kings and priests in Christ, when we walk in the strength and ability and power of the Lord and not in our own we will have joy. When we walk in our own strength, ability and power, we will have stress.

‘In Your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!’… The joy that we walk in as we walk in His strength becomes a receiver of ‘salvation’. The Hebrew word used here is ‘yᵉshûwʻâh’, literally meaning prosperity, healing, deliverance, help, preservation, vengeance, rescue, victory and blessing. All of those things are already freely given in our New Covenant in Christ, but joy and rejoicing (the act of expressing joy) receives, or lays hold of what has been given.

‘You have given him his heart’s desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips.’… The Holy Spirit literally imparts desire into New Covenant believers who walk in His strength and in His grace. After He places kingdom desires into our hearts, then not one request of our lips will be withheld. In the New Covenant, the Holy Spirit tells us the same thing in John 15:7, ‘But if you live in life-union with me and if my words live powerfully within you—then you can ask whatever you desire and it will be done.’ - John 15:7 (TPT) Kingdom DESIRE is imparted and ejected into our hearts as we abide in Jesus through our New Covenant. Then we can ask whatever we DESIRE and it will be done.

‘For You meet him with the blessings of goodness; You set a crown of pure gold upon his head.’

The Passion Translation says, ‘Rich blessings overflow with every encounter with you, and you placed a royal crown of gold upon his head.’ Every time we have a God encounter, every time we experience the glory… the manifested presence of the Lord, every single time rich blessings overflow and a royal crown of gold is placed upon our heads. Blessed be the Lord forever more!
