Today’s devotion comes from Ephesians 3:16 (TPT)

And I pray that He would unveil within you the unlimited riches of His glory and favor until supernatural strength floods your innermost being with His divine might and explosive power.

Ephesians 6:10 (TPT)

Be supernaturally infused with strength through your life-union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of His explosive power flowing in and through you.

The Lord has provided explosive power for you and I to walk in and operate in, He wants us supernaturally infused with strength, ability and power.

A large part of the last day church will reject the power of God in an effort to blend in, in a godless, worldly society…

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (TPT)

But you need to be aware that in the final days the culture of society will become extremely fierce and difficult for the people of God. People will be self-centered lovers of themselves and obsessed with money. They will boast of great things as they strut around in their arrogant pride and mock all that is right. They will ignore their own families. They will be ungrateful and ungodly.

They will become addicted to hateful and malicious slander. Slaves to their desires, they will be ferocious, belligerent haters of what is good and right. With brutal treachery, they will act without restraint, bigoted and wrapped in clouds of their conceit. They will find their delight in the pleasures of this world more than the pleasures of the loving God.

They may pretend to have a respect for God, but in reality they want nothing to do with God’s power. Stay away from people like these!

Right before Jesus’ ascension, He gives the great commission… “Preach the gospel, make disciples, heal the sick, cast out devils, speak in tongues, and as you go, you will be supernaturally protected and you will have power over all the work of the devil…”

Then Jesus goes on to say… “And I will send the fulfillment of the Father’s promise to you. So stay here in the city until the mighty [miracle working] power of heaven falls upon you and wraps around you.” (Luke 24:49 - TPT)

He continues… “But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 - AMPC)

The word that Jesus uses for ‘power’ is ‘dü’nämes’ (miracle working power), or ‘the supernatural ability to work miracles…

He commanded the remnants of the early to wait until they were endued and filled to overflowing with power and supernatural ability to work miracles before they attempted to do the great commission!

Lets look at the outpouring of power that the Lord promised…

Acts 2:1-4

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Let’s look at some other scriptural references of the baptism of the Spirit and speaking in tongues…

Acts 10:45-47 (NLT)

The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too. For they heard them speaking in other tongues and praising God. Then Peter asked, “Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?”

Acts 19:1-6

And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”

So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.”

And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.”

Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.”

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

Many, if not most believers today do not see the connection between speaking in tongues and the endowment of supernatural miracle working power – if the did, it would be emphasized in most churches today, but instead, it is avoided like the plague – believers who speak in tongues are ridiculed and branded as weird, even demon possessed… even though speaking in tongues in in the great commission, people leave that part out. Why are tongues so controversial when they are so central in New Covenant Christianity?

Paul the apostle said, “I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all.” (1 Corinthians 14:18) Why would Paul speak in tongues more that all of the believers that he was addressing? He had a revelation from the Lord - he connected tongues with the supernatural miracle working power that he needed to operate as a New Covenant apostle and believer.

Most people with supernatural miracle ministries speak in tongues many hours a day…they have the same revelation that Paul had – you can get the same revelation today, and when you do, you too can begin to live and operate in supernatural, miracle working power!

Pay attention to Paul’s teaching on tongues…

Paul says, “When someone speaks in tongues, no one understands a word he says, because he’s not speaking to people, but to God—he is speaking intimate mysteries in the Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 14:2 - TPT) Tongues are a heavenly language for believers to speak in faith, and as they do, they speak mysteries to the Father that no man and no devil can understand – almost like a secret code language.

Paul goes on to impart… '“He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.” (1 Corinthians 14:4) The Passion Translation says, ‘The one who speaks in tongues advances his own spiritual progress, while the one who prophesies builds up the church.’

The word edify comes from the word ‘edifice’… a huge structure – when we speak in tongues we build ourselves up into a great structure. When a believer speaks in tongues, the Holy Spirit prays through them, speaking words on the highest level of faith… that is why tongues impart power! Words of faith that are uncontaminated with the unrenewed flesh release maximum power, in fact, they release supernatural miracle working power!

Spirit words release Spirit power!

Spirit enabled, Spirit articulated words spoken in FAITH are the gateway to the supernatural and release great miracle working power!

Romans 8:26 says, ‘The Holy Spirit takes hold of us in our human frailty to empower us in our weakness. For example, at times we don’t even know how to pray, or know the best things to ask for. But the Holy Spirit rises up within us to super-intercede on our behalf, pleading to God with emotional sighs too deep for words. (Romans 8:26 -TPT)

As we speak in tongues the Holy Spirit rises up within us to super-intercede on our behalf… praying upon our most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost!

As a believer prays in tongues, He or she is praying the perfect will of God, speaking life, declaring the promises of God, calling those things that be not as though they were, speaking to mountains and releasing miracle working power.

Make this confession of faith - say this out loud with me…

“John 17:17 says that I am sanctified and set apart by Your truth - Your Word is truth - Your Word absolute truth – the Word is for me to walk in, to accept as final truth and for me to stand on, to declare by faith and for me to do – I am who the Word says that I am - I can do what the Word says I can do - I can be who the Word says I can be - Christ in me can do all things – I can do all things through Christ - I have absolute POWER over ALL the Work of the enemy – nothing shall by any means harm me – I have power to raise the dead – I have power to heal the sick – I have power to do the works of Jesus – I have total authority over all of the works of His hands in Jesus Name! – the power and the authority of the creator of all things is on the inside of me – when I speak by faith, I ALWAYS have what I say – As I speak the Word, the Father ALWAYS watches over it to perform it – The Father loves it when I expect Him to ALWAYS perform His EVERY Word! – I always expect the Father to bring to pass every word that I speak according to His Word – God is not a man that He should lie – His Word is literal, His Word is truth and His Word is final!”
