Today's word is from Matthew 21:7-11

They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Hosanna in the highest!”

“Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem was on Sunday or Monday, and He was crucified by Wednesday, the 1st day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread on the “High Sabbath.” It is interesting that the same people [with a few exceptions] that cried out “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Hosanna in the highest!” 2-3 days later raised their voices and cried out, “Crucify Him, Crucify Him!” The people wanted a RULER KING and that is who they thought Jesus was at the time of the triumphal entry, but as soon as they discovered that Jesus came not to be served, but to serve as a servant leader, and that He was not going to lead a revolt to overthrow the Roman empire, they wanted Him dead.”

Jesus was and is indeed a KING, in fact He is the KING OF KINGS, but He did not come to rule, to suppress to overthrow earthly kingdoms and to Lord it over by force, Jesus said He came to lead as a servant.

“But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…” (Matthew 20:25-28) As the people were crying out “Hosanna, Hosanna,” they were envisioning two things, a Ruler King who would overthrow Rome and put them in charge to rule the land, and someone that they could control. Jesus immediately proved to be neither… He threw over the vending money tables in the temple and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer.”

As we come together to praise and worship our King Jesus this Palm Sunday, let us lay down EVERY agenda and worship Jesus with innocence and complete trust. Let us also be prepared to continue to worship in times that we may not fully understand… as we yield to His ways, His plans, and His leading, Jesus will always cause us to triumph!

Father, I fully surrender to my King of Kings, Jesus! I fully yield to His ways, His plans, and His leading, and as I do Jesus will always cause me to triumph! Change my life this Easter season, as I die to self and begin to walk in the resurrection Power of Christ!
